HOW DO I USE CIPHER 1000?

First, you must tell Cipher 1000 what numerical scheme you are going to use for your analysis.  These schemes are called "keys."  The name of the key is based on its numerical sequence.  For example: key11.key is based on the following sequence:

A=1 B=20 C=13 D=6 E=25 F=18 G=11 H=4 I=23 J=16 K=9 L=2 M=21 N=14 O=7 P=26 Q=19 R=12 S=5 T=24 U=17 V=10 W=3 X=22 Y=15 Z=8

    LOADING A KEY:

Go to the "File" menu, and select "Open Key."

You will then be asked if you want to connect to the Cipher home page in order to download a ready made Key.  Click "Yes" and Cipher 1000 will connect you to the Cipher home page.

Once Cipher 1000 has connected to the Key Page, you will be shown the different available Keys.

Click on a Key, and Cipher 1000 will show you the numerical scheme associated with that particular Key.  If you want to load that Key, simply click "Open."

You will now see the numerical scheme displayed on the numerical table to the left.  The next step is to save the Key to your local drive.  Alternately, you can create your own Key by manually entering numbers to this table.

From the "File" menu, choose "Save Key."

You will be asked if you want to save your Key to the Cipher home page.  If you select "Yes," you will connected you to the Cipher site and given the opportunity to upload your Key to the site for others to use.  For right now,  select "No."

Give your key a name, and click "Save."

Congratulations!  You are now ready to use Cipher 1000!
